Fall Plumbing Checklist?

|

With Fall quickly approaching, let’s take a minute and look at some things you can do to pref,are your plumbing for colder weather. While it might not seem cold now, it’s best-to handle these things before the weather gets cold so that your home is ready when it does!

Flush you water heater

Your water heater will work harder the colder it is outside so its important to make sure it is running as efficiently as possible. Flush it out to remove any sediment buildup to avoid corrosion and extend the life span of your water heater

Set up a plumbing inspection

Could weather can have a major negative impact on your plumbing system. Call your local plumber and request an inspection to make sure your pipes are ready for the fall and winter season.

Locate plumbing Shut-Off Valve

Make sure you know where the water shut-off valve is located so in the event that your pipes do freeze or leaks you can stop the water flow.

Check for leaks

What may seem like a small drip right now could cause a lot of problems when the temperatures drop. If your outside faucets freeze but the leak continues, pressure will build up and cause same serious issues for your plumbing.

Clean you gutters

As the leaves start to fall your gutters can get blocked fast. Make sure to keep your gutters clean so that any water has a clear path to the drains.

Check your Roof for leaks, water damage and debris

A leaking or damaged roof can cause major problems for your house. Water, cold air and other elements can make their way into your home and cost hundreds in repairs and increased heating bills.
