All of us try to use the same toilet for years and years. Although toilets are designed to last, even the best ones break down and need replacement.
Here are the 4 main signs you need a new toilet.
IT CLOGS A LOT
Having your toilet clog every now and then isn’t a big deal, but if you’re grabbing that plunger every single time you flush, it’s probably time for a new toilet.
IT HAS CRACKS
Most toilets are made out of porcelain, so a lot of people have issues with the bowl or lid cracking. Lid cracks are ok (and easy to fix), but if your bowl has damage, you should stop using the toilet ASAP. These cracks can let sewage water out and spread through your house. If you’re having this problem, please contact a plumber!
Leaks are always a big problem, but if your toilet is allowing water to drop from the tank to the bowl, you’ve got a problem. If you hear water hissing when you’re not using the toilet, you probably have a leak. Merely having an internal leak isn’t cause for buying a new toilet; the drain stopper might need to be replaced. But, if the damage is bad enough, then you should consider getting a new one.
The best reason to get a new toilet is that your current one is old! Many older toilets don’t meet the EPA’s decision that residential toilets can only use 1.6 gallons of water per flush. If you have an older toilet, you could be jacking up your water bill. Sure, the initial investment of buying a new toilet can be rough, but it will pay dividends in the long run.
